Artist Interview: Caek and Minko

This is one from the vaults of early 2025, back in March, when we caught up with Caek and Minko about the creative vision behind their music and visuals.

Q: What is your creative process when developing the aesthetic or vision for your music album artwork, music videos, and brand image?
A: We see our brand as an ongoing journey. We’re drawn to similar things—bright colors, rainbow palettes, high-quality, provocative, and eye-catching visuals. Everything we put out has to have a sense of purpose. For us, creating high-quality art isn’t just about visuals; it’s about ensuring that every choice feels intentional.

Q: Do you draw inspiration from other art forms, such as visual art, film, or literature, to shape your work?
A: Absolutely. All art forms feel interconnected to us. We’re inspired by minimalism, but also by juxtaposition—that tension between opposites shows up in both our music and our visuals. Film and visual art are especially influential; we’re always chasing that visceral reaction, that “punch” you feel when a piece moves you. That’s the energy we want our music to bring to listeners.

Q: How does storytelling influence the visual and branding elements of your music?
A: Storytelling is everything. The juxtaposition we love plays into it here too—sometimes visuals catch people off guard, making them stop and ask, “What is this?” But at the same time, we want those visuals to carry the story of the song in a fresh and compelling way.

Q: How do you strike a balance between maintaining a consistent aesthetic and experimenting with new styles as your career evolves?
A: Honestly, it happens naturally. Neither of us could ever put out something we don’t believe in, but we also see the value of pushing outside the box. Even though our tastes align, we each bring different perspectives that the other might not have considered. That dynamic challenges us and pushes us to grow, while still keeping our aesthetic cohesive.

Q: Can you share a story of when your artistic vision came to life exactly as you imagined it?
A: When we went out to LA to film videos for our current album, it felt like everything clicked. Each song got its own video, and the experience itself was unforgettable. More importantly, the storytelling in those visuals captured the essence of the songs in a way that we’re incredibly proud of. It was one of those rare times where vision and execution matched perfectly.

Q: How do you approach collaboration with other creatives to bring your vision to life?
A: Collaboration for us is rooted in trust. Up until recently, all our writing and production was just the two of us. Now, we’ve started working with a couple of close friends who we truly trust. They’re like family, and that trust allows us to open up and let them into our creative process.

Q: In what ways do your music and visuals connect with broader social or cultural themes?
A: Most of our songs are deeply relatable—whether cultural, political, or personal. We want our music to provoke thought and emotion, and we hope people find pieces of their own lives in what we create. At the end of the day, resonance is what we’re chasing.

Q: What are some specific goals or future projects you hope to pursue to further develop your artistic identity?
A: Right now, we’re creating our second album, which we hope to finish by the end of the summer. We see it as both a continuation and an evolution—refining our sound and aesthetic, while also pushing ourselves into new territory. It feels like an upgrade from where we’ve been, and we can’t wait to share it.

We can’t wait to see how their evolving aesthetic unfolds with the release of their second album later this year.
